So today I had this assignment to do in one of my classes at school. I am a student at BYU- Idaho and this is for my religion class. Today I just kinda want to share with you all some of the things that I have been learning. In the assignment we were asked to look at a magazine cover without reading the article and to describe what it represents and what it is trying to tell us. On the cover it had two wedding rings and the caption of, "infidelity it may be in our genes," When I looked at it what came to my mind is that they are telling the people that cheating is something that we can't help but do. I feel that it draws upon all of the things that occur in this country right now with the disintegration of the family. Although this is the main idea I get from the picture I do not agree with what it said. This magazine is wrongly trying to teach people that they can't control it. It reminds me of a few people in the book of mormon who went around teaching people false things. For example Sherem, in the book of mormon, went around telling people that there was no christ. That there was no reason to repent of sins because he didn't exist. There were many people who believed and followed him. The next person was Nehor. Nehor went around teaching false doctrines so he could gain riches and he even built up his own church. The last example was from Korihor. Korihor went around ridiculing the atonement by saying there was no penalty for sin. Many people believed what he taught and also many people still believe in those principles today. With these three example we were able to see many peole fall into the trap and be led away. The common thing that happened with all three of these people were that their lives fell apart. All three were eventually killed. This is a strong lesson to be learned. Anyone who tries to do the things that they did will not prevail. We as individuals need to be carful of who we listen to and follow because we may just find our selves in a trap.
